چکیده

Abstract Bacterial infections pose a severe threat to human health due the exacerbation of antibiotic resistance and intracellular bacterial infections. Research suggests that oligo(p-phenylene vinylene) (OPV), commonly employed in manufacture organic solar batteries, can help address this issue. This study demonstrates ability OPV target sterilize Porphyromonas gingivalis methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus ( MRSA ) photodynamically. Most notably, specifically targets bacteria without affecting healthy cells under dark conditions. Its chemical composition includes conjugated backbone ionic imidazole side chains, which allow bind cell membranes. Furthermore, dental blue light curing lamps may excite OPV. Compared with antibiotics traditional photosensitizers, proves be potentially superior solution eradicate microbial infections, both fundamental research clinical applications.

Photophysics of Poly(p-Phenylene Vinylene) Films

We report on time resolved photoluminescence (PLRT) measurements in poly(p-phenylene vinylene) (PPV) films irradiated by laser in the presence of air. We observe a PL intensity enhancement and a biexponential decay dynamics of PL signal for all irradiated films. These results can be understood in terms of a chain shortening process due to carbonyl incorporation and formation of an energy profil...

Excitation Transfer in Poly-(p -phenylene Vinylene)

Electroluminescent conjugated polymers such as poly-(p-phenylene vinylene) (PPV) are at the brink of being extensively used commercially as light emitting devices. A continuous flow of both theoretical and experimental studies elucidate many still unresolved issues of polymer photophysics. Among the processes under debate are the different energy transfer pathways. This work studies one such pa...

A Thermo- and Mechanoresponsive Cyano-Substituted Oligo(p-phenylene vinylene) Derivative with Five Emissive States.

Multiresponsive materials that display predefined photoluminescence color changes upon exposure to different stimuli are attractive candidates for advanced sensing schemes. Herein, we report a cyano-substituted oligo(p-phenylene vinylene) (cyano-OPV) derivative that forms five different solvent-free solid-state molecular assemblies, luminescence properties of which change upon thermal and mecha...

Amphiphilic light-emitting dendrons with oligo(phenylene vinylene) branches and oligo(ethylene oxide) terminal chains

We have recently synthesized new amphiphilic light-emitting dendrons with oligo(phenylene vinylene) core–branches and oligo(ethylene oxide) terminal chains (designated as: OPPV-d-OPEO). Due to the amphiphilic properties arising from the large difference in solubility between the two components, unique concentrationand temperature-dependent photoluminescence emissions were observed for aqueous s...

Energy transfer in chiral co-assemblies of triple hydrogen-bonded oligo(p-phenylene vinylene)s and porphyrin.

Pi-pi stacking of hydrogen-bonded porphyrin and oligo(p-phenylene vinylene)s (OPVs) yields helical co-assemblies which exhibit energy transfer from OPV to porphyrin.
